The Peak Forest Canal runs for almost 15miles from Ashton under Lyne to Whaley Bridge. It is incredibly scenic as it runs along the Goyt valley, yet full of industrial heritage. Bugsworth Basin is certainly worth a quick detour, with plenty of moorings, a good pub and much of interest.
