Chandlers on the inland waterways tend to specialize in stocking equipment and accessories for canal boats including narrowboats, widebeams and dutch barges. There are also some who deal more exclusively with cruising boats (GRPs) and sailing boats. Most can be found in marinas along the canal system, but there are some which stand alone, and others which offer an online service only.

In a chandlery you will find everything you need from everyday requirements like cleaning equipment, toilet fluids, fenders, ropes and 12volt lights. You will also find the larger domestic items such as 12volt fridges, cookers, and cassette or composting toilets. Then there is the more technical equipment with items such as anodes, gear-boxes, fan belts, batteries, generators and inverters. Many chandlers specialise in certain aspects of waterway life, so it is worthwhile doing some research to find out where you can get exactly what you need.
