Dear Readers,
Welcome to the Autumn Edition of CanalsOnline Magazine, which is packed full of new and interesting articles. My thanks to all of our regular contributors who have managed yet again to send in their contributions. We have a new Author of the Season in Fiona Sims. Fiona is already a well published author, but has now published a new book 'A Year on the River - a boater's guide to growing, foraging, storing and cooking on a boat.'
Our Summer Free Prize Draw has now come to a close, and the very lucky winner, Elaine Cleminson of NB Hunts Kim, was the receiver of a Recoheat System - a wonderful adaptation to an existing stove and flue which spreads heat very efficiently through a boat. A wonderful prize!
Our Winter Free Prize Draw is now open, and offers readers the chance to win a Personalised Tiller Pin from Jonk's Bespoke Fabrication (formerly Yorkshire Bespoke Tiller Pins). A lovely idea for this most vital piece of canal boat equipment, which would make a lovely gift for someone you know, or even for yourself: a tiller pin with your own boat's name on it! It costs nothing to enter, and takes only a minute of your time. A great idea for Christmas...
We are always looking for Roving Traders who make their living on the cut. If you know anyone who would benefit from being featured in the magazine, do let us know. It would cost them nothing, and they might well gain some new customers.
The same thing goes for pubs. If you know of a good canal or riverside pub, one that you would be happy to recommed to other boaters, walkers or cyclists, then please let us know. We would be happy to run a feature on any recommended pub, and the publicity could well bring in plenty of passing trade. Have a look at our Waterside Pubs page.
Remember we always appreciate your comments on any aspects of the magazine. You can Write for Us or become an Active Cruiser and help us keep our waterway guides up to date. And if you have not yet joined [faceboat] do have a look - it is a great way to join in with the waterways community - we welcome photos, stories, boating tips, questions, recommendations - anything to do with the waterways!
Happy Reading!
Linda
